Which pouch size do I need?

| 2.25 × 4 | ≈ 57 × 102 | Single small item: burs, probes, suture packs | $4.49 | $0.022 |
| 2.75 × 9 | ≈ 70 × 229 | Mirrors, explorers, single hand instrument | $7.19 | $0.036 |

| 10 × 15 | ≈ 254 × 381 | Bulkier sets, towels, gowns | $31.99 | $0.160 |
| Assorted 200-pack | mixed | Starter box across the common sizes | $11.99 | — |
| Roll 76 mm × 50 m | 76 × 50,000 | Cut-to-length, no fixed size commitment | $105.00 (case of 10) | — |
A pouch that is too large wastes material and lets the pack balloon; one that is too small will not seal around the instrument. If you are unsure, the 3.5 × 9 is the size most general practices settle on for handpieces, forceps and mirrors.
How much do sterilization pouches cost in Canada?
Boxes start at $4.49 for 200 pouches (2.25 × 4) and reach $31.99 for 200 pouches (10 × 15). Per pouch that is $0.022 to $0.16. Cases of ten boxes reduce handling but not the unit price. There is no minimum order — a single 200-pouch box ships.
What does "Class 4 dual indicator" actually mean?
The pouch carries two indicators in one product. The internal one is a Class 4 multi-parameter indicator printed inside the film: it responds to time, temperature and the presence of steam, and it is read through the film after the cycle. The external one is a Class 1 process indicator on the paper side, which only tells you the pack has been through a sterilization process — it does not tell you the process was adequate. That is why Class 4 is the useful signal and Class 1 is the routing label.
Specifications: medical-grade paper ≥55 g/m², blue-tinted film ~50 µm, pressure-sensitive self-sealing strip, rated for gravity and pre-vacuum steam cycles. Standards referenced by the manufacturer: ISO 11140-1 (indicators), ISO 11607-1 and EN 868-3/5 (packaging), AAMI ST79 (practice).

How many boxes does a clinic use per month?
Work it out from your own instrument throughput, not from an average. One usable pouch per instrument set, one set per patient. A practice running 20 instrument sets a day, 20 days a month, needs roughly 400 pouches — two boxes. Add 10–15% for re-packs and damaged seals. Bracket your number between your slowest and busiest month rather than buying to the peak.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do these pouches work in a gravity (non-vacuum) autoclave?
Yes. They are rated for both gravity and pre-vacuum steam cycles. Follow your sterilizer manufacturer's cycle parameters and your provincial reprocessing guidance for load configuration.
Can I see the internal indicator without opening the pouch?
Yes. The Class 4 indicator is printed on the inside of the film and is read through the film, so you can check the result before the pouch is opened.
What size pouch fits a dental handpiece?
3.5 × 9 in (90 × 230 mm) is the size most general practices use for handpieces, forceps and mirrors.
Is there a minimum order?
No. A single 200-pouch box can be ordered. Cases of ten are available for higher volume.
How much is one pouch?
Between $0.022 and $0.16 depending on size, calculated from the box price divided by 200 pouches.
