Each pack holds 100 kits, every one sealed in its own bag, and the containers the lab receives at the other end are the 120 mL sterile specimen containers, 200 per case. Kit out with the patient, container in at the bench: those are the two halves of the same collection chain.
What is inside one stool collection kit, and what does a kit cost?
One kit is a screw-cap container with a scoop built into the lid, a leak-proof closure and a patient label already on the body — the patient collects, writes their details, and the kit travels without a second piece of paper. The pack of 100 is $39.99, so a kit works out at about 40 cents, which is 39.99 divided by 100. Put that against the cost of a rejected sample that has to be collected a second time and the arithmetic stops being about the kit at all.

Which stool tests does this kit suit, and which container does the lab want?
The kit is a collection and transport vessel, so it suits the tests the receiving laboratory will accept a plain screw-cap container for: occult blood screening, enteric culture and parasitology. What changes between those is the handling after collection — a culture sample is expected at the bench quickly, while a parasitology sample may be split into preservative tubes on arrival. Ask your laboratory which container and which transport bag it wants before you order, because the answer is set by their accreditation, not by the kit.
How many kits should a clinic hold, and how is a reorder placed?
Most clinics are surprised by how long 100 kits last: a family practice sending a few samples a week is looking at months, not weeks, so the risk is expiry and lost stock rather than running dry. Count kits against your actual monthly send-outs, keep one unopened pack as the buffer, and reorder when the second pack is opened. Multi-site groups, long-term care operators and laboratories sending in volume can place the order as a standing line through wholesale ordering instead of logging single packs.
Work out monthly collection volumes on the clinic supply planner, take the printable bench sheet from the compliance log centre, and route group purchases through wholesale ordering. For specimen-handling protocol questions, the compliance desk answers in writing.
